All my shoes have the same annoying problem.

Their little rubber cover on the heel seems to fall off, exposing the nail…thus making an annoying tick tock sound wherever I walk.

This happens not only to my el cheap $20 buys, but also to my expensive….$100 dollar buys (If you were expecting $400 shoes here….please be reminded that no one has yet discovered my true linage as a Maharani and I am still unfortunately middle class.)

Everytime I fix them, it falls right off........It is really getting on my nerves….

Blog Portland! NEVER!!!!

you need to allow the shoe repair man to fix them. Those plastic caps are a temporary fix.

Darling, you really need some Manolo's or some Choo's. Something shiny and glittery. They will still make the same noise - but you will learn to love it as they need to make some noise... they are attention grabbers...

First off: There is NOTHING wrong with flip flops (and I am SO not middle aged, JAY!).

Second Off: I actually got stuck to the floor during my wedding pictures when that shoe bit fell off of my fancy shoes. Just sign #5000 why I shouldn't have walked down the aisle, I guess.

BP is right, flip flops are in. I'm wearing my secret agent flip flops right now.

OE: A cute non agent, only wears heels....its in keeping with the image....it appals me that you would suggest otherwise...

Perhaps you need to re-familiarize yourself with the manual.

1. flip flops are for fuddies.
2. part of your problem is how you walk.
3. get a good shoe guy to put a good pair of lifts (that's what they're called) on your heels, and you'll still have to get them replaced--just not as often.
4. wear wedges. :)

Do all your shoes come with kegs like that?

It's the same with anything you buy now ... why, I have an expensive pair of pants that got too tight around the middle .... where is quality gone

I have the same problem keep fixing them and the heel gets shorter each time. Got some wedges not bad but its not the same.

LOL at Jay Bee. Uhmmm... what are "lifts" and "Wedges"? :|

I have a good shoe man that fixs mine - I'd recommend him, but it's a bit of a long way to come!

fiyah: the little pieces of plastic that are affixed to the bottom of a heel are called lifts. you can replace them cheaply, or get a good shoe guy to put in a more expensive set made in a long-wear, durable material.

wedges are shoes that have a wedge-shaped heel that extends right to the sole. they offer the same height as "traditional" heels, but because of the wider surface area, they're sturdier, and less prone to the heel wear that CP is complaining about.

@jay bee: Oh! I have seen those before. Somewhere. On some woman's foot. Good looking out!

When you find a better solution than adding the tips make sure to post it here! In the meantime as Gish says Wedges work...plus they are much easier to walk in...not as sexy but def easier...

I am the manual

I get this problem too, but find that I have a hard-core flat pair for walking outside the building (black, ballet-flat style) and only wear my high heels inside the office.

For weekend wear, I've got a shoe dude who carries double-thickness heel caps, so they don't need to be replaced as often. He accepts mail orders too, so I can give you his address if you like :)

Yes we all can identify with the embarrassing noise of the shoes minus heels

I prefer my women barefoot...

However, if you absolutely have to leave the bedroom, then I suggest either; Gorilla glue, or GOOP for shoes... These are waaaays stronger than the cheap-shit glues that the 12 year-old kids in the sweatshops use... Just use a pair of pliers to snap off the lifts when you buy the shoes, re-affix them using the better glue and let them cure over-night... A 3-dollar tube should fix a couple hundred pairs... Much better than keeping some charlatan shoe-mender in business...
