I step onto the crowded subway and wedge myself into my favourite spot, by the door, and as the subway chugs on, the sun shines through.

I close my eyes, immersing myself in the beautiful light, smiling and loving every little ray.

Sensing a stare I open my eyes to a tanned, well structured mature face, which takes a long, deep look into mine and then looks away. He’s got golden brown hair, well trimmed, and immediately I sneak a look at his shoes….a square point….whew!

We spend the next twenty minutes taking turns to study each other, with small smiles of appreciation, until his stop arrives.

As he gets off, he makes a point to stop, turn and smile.

Ah yes, Summer has finally arrived!

Quick question, but why were you relieved that the shoe was square?

'Square Point'

A man's shoes speaks volumes, is he up with the times, his fashion taste level, his habits etc....

I am sooo in agreement with you about a man's shoes! I would never check out a guy wearing shoes with tassels,or (DEAR GOD!) white dress shoes! eeeww!

But, this was a finer form of foreplay. All about the subtleties. Two people taking the time to just admire each other....

Hmmm, I'm looking down at my shoes.

They're telling me that I'm a hobo from the 1930s who lost a leg hopping a boxcar while running moonshine between Hoovervilles around Cannery Row after being chased by a bull with a bad temper and a mean left jab.

Also, that I had spaghetti for lunch.

I have a few "square point" shoes, I guess I am "in step" with fashion :)

I love this blog...question, why have you chosen this name for your blog? I am writing a piece on why some one would call another a putz, but yet they are more of one for what they have done?

If you would, or have the time, email me...

well, there were other options, right? I mean, round toes I hate, yuck--that just says formal dance down at the junior high gym

square toes seem a little "safe" to me--it's like, he doesn't want to look like a dork but if the rest of his clothes are not razor sharp, he still might

now a pointy toe--that says to me he's secure in himself and doesn't mind trying something different!
