On Pussy Cat Hoes and Cricket Scores…

There’s a new Reality Show on TV, entitled The Search for the Next Pussy Cat Doll. It basically consists of twenty well toned hoes, clad in the tiniest shorts imaginable, wiggling their behinds and bitching about each other for an hour each week.

I was bombarded with re-runs of the show’s premier episodes this weekend and a couple of things came to mind:

  • Besides the lead singer, I cannot identify any of the other pussy cat dolls….why on earth do they need another one?
  • On that note they should rename the show: “Who wants to be the Next Background Pussy Cat Hoe, Whose Name and Face No One’s Gonna Know”
  • The basic criteria to be a doll seems to be flat abs, the ability to wear the least amount of clothing, and to shake your tush in a way the critics deem to be slutty yet not over the top and we wonder why four years olds on You Tube are doing the Dutty wine and demanding to wear halters…

In other news very dismal results for the Asians in World Cup Cricket. The Paks lost to Ireland and are out (needless to say my pops is jubilant.) The Indians got their behinds kicked by Bangladesh. Now I am not a huge sports fan. I watch certain sports simply because there is little else to do in Canada on cold evenings. So I am pretty shocked by the stories of people dying over the lossesand here, and others burning effigies and storming homes all because they felt someone didn’t play well.
I understand feeling passionate about a game in the moment, (sort of like when your in the throes of passion and about to get into the “highlight” and he decides to be ‘cute’ and tease you some more)….its annoying. However how do you still feel so passionate about the whole thing a day later??? The moment’s passed people, on with the next game…

re: cricket well it wasnt a bad weekend for all asians. bangladesh are celebrating!

its sad though that people take this stuff so serious. its like remember when that colombian football player got shot cause he allowed an own goal in the world cup. come on people chill out a bit its a game, dont lose it over this stuff.

Ah cricket lovely cricket.. brings out the best and the worst eh? The whole world cup has taken some dramatic [and tragic] turns.. I await to see what happens next. That said, I'm off to watch the Windies take on Zimbabwe.. we NEED to get into the Super 8.

As for the pussycat hoes.. u are so right, I only recognize the lead singer.. and I keep thinking she was the chick on the L Word.. was she? The rest are a half nekkid blur..

Re: Pussy Cat Dolls...agreed that the other women get the short end of the stick, cos no one knows them...but dunno if I agree with them being "hoes"...

Unless you mean allowing themselves to be "pimped" on TV...

Pussy Cat Hoes make my head hurt. I remember when their song doncha came out. I kept thinking "No, he doesn't wish his girlfriend was a hoe bag like you when he could just fuck you, dump you and head back to his woman, you stupid tricks." Unfeminist as it sounds.

Cricket is not just a game...it is a way of life! Lol. I kid. My mom is in Trinidad right now and I was trying to talk to her about her taxes since she won't be back to do them herself. She was too busy watching cricket to talk to me. People get obsessed.

Hey! Don't bash hot hoes in short shorts! I really don't care who wins, as long as there's good eye candy. I heard that one girls got eliminated for being too much like a stripper. Huh? Indians are nuts for cricket. Nuff said.

I think people take sports so seriously, especially in the third world, because with all the problems we have it gives us something to feel good about. You don't realize how frustrated you are about your country's position in the world, problems and shortcomings until you taste victory against a greater power and the joy is overwhelming. It is at that moment that you realize that even if you don't think about your country's status in the world all the time...it is there simmering in the sub-conscious waiting for an opportunity to come out.
I wish I could explain what Jamaica felt as a country when we qualified for the Soccer World Cup. In that moment we felt that as a nation we could do anything. Silly to feel that way because of a game...perhaps...but people want to believe and the game gave us that emotional opportunity.
Unfortunately, when you invest so much emotion in something...anything...it can have the negative consequences that we have seen in the past. I am sure that a lot of these people shooting players, burning effigies and storming houses don't have much of anything good going for them...they don't have a life...so when you take away that emotional high...that pride...they have nothing left. The consequences of that can be disastrous.
I am sure that for many of them it isn't even about national pride. Sports gives them a chance to forget about their personal lives and personal failings.
I'm not making any excuses for these people but for me, the things that are happening now are no surprise.

Hey Irie Latino...thanks for the concious comment...we forget sometimes how lucky we have it, I think your points of sports being a distraction to those less fortunate is a good one....Cricket is also an equalizer and uniter of sorts in India where the society is so divided by class, religion, etc. Cricket is the passion that unites them...to borrow a slogan from the maple leafs....

Simple Enigma....I use the term Hoes with a little bit of levity...

I just don't understand how people get so passionate about cricket!!! I really don't. By virtue, it's not a passionate game. It's a lot of sitting around waiting for something to happen...when something does happen it can be quite exciting, but then 8 seconds later it's back to the waiting. I mean...a proper test lasts for FIVE DAYS! It's not like a soccer game were you go, get all worked up for 3 hours and then need to take your frustration out on something. This is a sport where you get to go home and have a sleep and a shower and a chat to the family and a calm down FOUR TIMES before it's over.

It is very sad about Bob Woolmer though...

And the network runs commercials for that damn show ALL THE TIME. I feel like I've had Don't Cha stuck in my head for weeks.

Oh you misunderstand! France winning the World Cup would be WORSE than W winning a third term in office even though there's a two term limit!
